Memory Cafe is a free social gathering located in the Fargo Moorhead area where people experiencing memory loss, and their care partners, come together in a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment. A place where they can experience a true sense of belonging and meaningful purpose.

At Memory Cafe we are committed to reminding our participants they are valued, significant members of our local community by changing the way we think about and support memory loss.

The Story

Memory Café of the Red River Valley was founded by Deb Kaul and Beth Ustanko in 2017; it is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. As caregivers for their parents, Deb and Beth recognized the dire needs of families living with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementia.

The organization offers a welcoming, supportive space for people living with memory loss and their care partners to connect, laugh, learn, and build community.

In the video, Deb shares the mission behind the Café, the weekly programs it offers – from exercise and creative therapies to music-filled dine-and-dance events – and the vision for a future dedicated facility.
